The Crow Hill Estate itself is 11 acres of formal gardens, rolling fields, country lanes and bluebell woods. The Estate is located on the edge of the National Trust Marsden Moor Estate, set in a spectacular unspoilt landscape with stunning views from almost every window. Beauty, peace and tranquility are the order of the day here - deer, pheasants and spotted woodpeckers can be seen. Crow Hill has the best of both worlds, as it is also within 5 minutes of Marsden Village and all the hustle and bustle of village life, local food & independent shops! (Click to enlarge photos or scroll for more information.)
National Trust Marsden Moor
You can step out of the door and be on the National Trust Moor within 2 minutes via our own footpath. Many walks are available, suitable for the all types of walkers, including the Pennine Way. Please visit the National Trust site for full information on the walks available which also include organised walks with a guide all year round.
The estate, covering nearly 2429ha (5685 acres) of unenclosed common moorland and almost surrounding the village of Marsden, takes in the northern part of the Peak District National Park, with valleys, reservoirs, peaks and crags, as well as archaeological remains dating from pre-Roman times to the great engineering structures of the canal and railway ages. The estate is a designated SSSI and forms part of an international Special Protection Area and is a candidate Special Area of Conservation. At the National Trust Estate office is the 'Welcome to Marsden' exhibition, giving a good insight into the area.
Marsden Village
Marsden is a small picturesque Pennine village with every amenity visitors could possibly need - local butchers, bakers, small supermarket, greengrocers and its own well-connected train station. There is a wide selection of eating places including real ale pub and an Italian restaurant and all within a 5-10 minute walk from the Crow Hill Estate. The canal and Tunnel End are at the end of the village offering lovely walks, canal boat rides and even a canal boat café.
